Decline Push Up Counter: Hands-Free Decline Push Up Rep Counting

Reps · Upper chest, Front delts, Triceps · A step or box

Animated demo of the Decline Push Up as the FitnessBruh app shows it

Raising your feet moves more of your weight onto your arms, and this decline push up counter follows your elbows through every rep. The phone sits low on the floor while the coach does the counting.

Both arms are read together. There's no one-arm mode. Settle your feet on a step or box during the five-second countdown and start pressing.

Phone setup

Set the phone sideways (landscape) on the floor, with the lens low, about 2 meters (6 feet) away. Your whole body, from your hands to your raised feet, has to be inside the frame.

Stand halfway between side-on and facing the phone, so both arms stay in view. Your feet go up on a step or box, with your hands on the floor.

How FitnessBruh counts it

Your elbow angle drives the count, measured from shoulder to elbow to wrist. Straight arms at the top are the start, the bottom with your elbows bent is the far position, and pressing back to straight arms finishes the rep.

Both arms are read together, and no one-arm mode exists. A decline push up that stops above the far position isn't counted, so the bottom of each rep needs a clear bend.

Counting begins only after you've been down in the push up position for a moment, so climbing into place adds no rep. Get up mid-set and it pauses until you're back in position. Your shoulders and hips need a steady view as well.

FAQ

Where do I put the phone for decline push ups?

Sideways (landscape) on the floor, lens low, about 2 meters (6 feet) away, with your body turned halfway between side-on and facing it so both arms stay in view.

What can I use as a step for decline push ups?

A sturdy step or box works. Your feet go on it and your hands stay on the floor, with everything inside the frame.

Do decline push ups count differently from regular ones?

A rep follows the same path: straight arms, a clear elbow bend at the bottom, then straight arms again. Only your feet change, rising onto the step.
