Star Jump Counter: Hands-Free Star Jump Rep Counting

Animated demo of the Star Jump as the FitnessBruh app shows it

A star jump throws your arms and legs wide at the same moment, and this star jump counter waits for both. It counts each full rep out loud once you land and stand tall.

Both arms and both legs are read together. Start square-on with your feet together and your arms down during the five-second countdown.

Phone setup

Stand the phone upright at chest height. Step back until your arms overhead and both feet fit in the frame.

Face the phone square-on to start, with your feet together and your arms down.

How FitnessBruh counts it

Two signals are read: the arms, meaning how high your upper arms rise at the shoulder, and the legs, meaning how far they open at the hip. Both have to reach the far position together and come back together; neither alone counts.

Standing tall with your feet together and your arms down is the start, the star with your arms up and your legs wide is the far position, and landing then standing tall with your arms down completes the rep.

Counting begins only when the camera has a steady view of your whole body, knees and ankles included, so step back until your feet fit in the frame.

FAQ

Do arm swings alone count as star jumps?

No. Arms alone don't count. The arms and the legs both have to reach the far position together.

Why didn't my back-to-back jumps count?

Jumps chained without standing tall in between don't count. Land, stand tall with your arms down, then jump again.

Where does the phone go for star jumps?

Upright at chest height, facing you square-on, with enough distance that your arms overhead and both feet fit in the frame.
