Rows tip your torso forward and put your arms underneath it, so the best seat for the camera is directly to your side. This bent-over row counter reads how far your elbow bends while you hold the hinge.
Row with both arms at once, or choose one-arm mode so each side gets its own turn.
Phone setup
Raise the phone to chest height, upright, and back off far enough that your whole body still fits once you've hinged forward.
Stand side-on to the phone and hinge forward at the hips, with your whole body still visible.
- Choose a hinge angle and hold it. The count follows your elbow, not your torso.
Form cues
- Hinge, then hold. Set your torso at an angle you can keep for the whole set and let only the arms move.
- Pull toward your ribs. Drive the dumbbell up to the side of your ribcage rather than straight up toward your chest.
- Drive elbows back. Leading with the elbow keeps the work in your lats and upper back instead of your hands.
- Lower to straight. A rep ends when the arm is hanging straight again, so let it extend fully.
Common mistakes
- Standing up to row. Straightening your torso each rep changes the shape of the movement. Keep the same hinge from first rep to last.
- Squaring up to the phone. Rows are tracked from the side. Turn side-on so your pulling arm stays clear of your torso.
- Yanking with momentum. Jerking the weight skips the lats. Pull deliberately and lower it just as deliberately.
How FitnessBruh counts it
The elbow angle drives the count, from shoulder to elbow to wrist. The arm hangs straight to start, pulling the dumbbell toward your ribs takes it to the far position, and lowering back to straight finishes the rep.
Only the elbow is measured, not the hinge, so hold your torso steady and let the arm do all of the moving.
In one-arm mode the app follows the elbow you chose, and the coach calls the switch when it's time to row the other side.
FAQ
Does the counter care how far I hinge?
No. It counts the elbow, not the hinge, so choose an angle you can hold and keep it. The torso only has to stay still while the elbows work.
Can I take one arm per set when I row?
Yes. Pick one-arm mode and each side gets its own turn, with the switch announced by the coach; the set finishes after the second side.
How much space should I leave around me for rows?
A few steps back with the phone at chest height, enough to fit your whole body while hinged forward. If your head or feet leave the frame, shuffle further back.
