Pull Up Counter: Hands-Free Pull Up Rep Counting

Reps · Lats, Biceps, Upper back · Pull-up bar

Animated demo of the Pull Up as the FitnessBruh app shows it

Pull ups give the camera one clear picture to wait for: you, hanging. This pull up counter doesn't begin until it sees both hands above your head and your body upright, held for a moment.

Then the coach tells you counting is live, and every rep after that is called out loud. All you need is a bar.

Phone setup

Put the phone upright at chest height about 3 meters (10 feet) back, so the bar and your whole body are in the frame.

Face the camera while you hang, hands on the bar and chest toward the lens.

How FitnessBruh counts it

The app watches the angle at your elbow. A rep starts from a straight-arm hang, reaches the far position when your elbows are well bent at the top of the pull, and finishes when you lower back to a straight-arm hang.

Before any rep it waits for the hang: both hands above your head and your body upright, for a moment. Until it sees that, no pull is counted, however many you do.

If your hands drop below your shoulders, counting stops and resumes after you hang again. There's no one-arm mode, and it doesn't track your grip.

FAQ

What does the pull up counter wait for?

A hang: both hands above your head and your body upright, held for a moment. Once it sees that, the coach says counting is live and your next pull is rep one.

Where should I put the phone for pull ups?

Upright at chest height, roughly 3 meters (10 feet) back, so the bar and your whole body fit. Step further away if your hands leave the top of the frame.

Does wide, close or underhand grip matter?

The counter doesn't track grip, only your elbow bend, so train with whichever grip you prefer. Just keep both hands above your head during the hang so it recognizes the start.
