Leg Raise Counter: Hands-Free Leg Raise Rep Counting

Animated demo of the Leg Raise as the FitnessBruh app shows it

A leg raise is a straight-leg lift from the floor, and this leg raise counter wants exactly that. It reads how far your legs rise and counts each rep out loud, so you can stay lying flat.

Both legs move together here. Lie back during the five-second countdown, keep your legs straight, and the coach counts every full lift.

Phone setup

Set the phone down in landscape on the floor, about 2 meters (6 feet) away, so it sees you from the side. Keep your whole body in the frame, head to feet.

Lie flat on your back, side-on to the phone, with your legs straight.

How FitnessBruh counts it

The measurement is the angle at your hip, from shoulder to hip to ankle. Legs flat on the floor are the start, legs raised toward vertical with your hips down is the far position, and lowering them all the way back down completes the rep.

Both legs are read together, and your knees must stay straight. While they bend, the rep can't count.

Counting begins only after you've been lying in position on the floor for a moment, so getting down adds no rep. Sit up mid-set and it stops until you lie back. A steady view of your shoulders and hips is needed too.

FAQ

Do bent-knee leg raises count?

No. Knee tucks don't count, because the knees must stay straight. While they bend, the rep can't count.

What if I sit up during a leg raise?

Lifting your torso off the floor stops counting until you lie back down. Keep your head and shoulders resting on the floor.

Where does the phone go for leg raises?

Sideways (landscape) on the floor, about 2 meters (6 feet) away, with you lying side-on and your whole body in the frame.
