Goblet Squat Counter: Hands-Free Goblet Squat Rep Counting

Reps · Quads, Glutes, Core · One dumbbell or kettlebell

Animated demo of the Goblet Squat as the FitnessBruh app shows it

A goblet squat holds the weight in front of your chest, and this goblet squat counter doesn't care what you're holding. It reads your legs, and it needs to see your knees and ankles before it counts anything.

Grab one dumbbell or kettlebell, stand a few steps back and turn slightly off-square. The coach counts you through the set while you stay under the weight.

Phone setup

Set the phone upright at chest height. Step back until your whole body is in the shot, head to feet.

Turn slightly sideways to the phone, between square-on and side-on, so both legs stay in view.

How FitnessBruh counts it

The counter reads the angle at each knee, from hip to knee to ankle. Standing is the start position, squatting down is the far position, and standing back up completes the rep.

Both legs are averaged into a single reading. Counting waits for a steady view of your whole body, knees and ankles included, so keep your feet in the shot.

The weight at your chest isn't part of the measurement, because the counter reads your legs. A partial dip that never reaches the bottom isn't counted.

FAQ

What does the counter need to see before it starts?

A steady view of your whole body, knees and ankles included. If your feet are out of the frame, back away until they're inside and hold still for a moment.

Does the weight I hold change the count?

No. The counter reads your legs, not what's in your hands, so the weight at your chest isn't part of the measurement. Pick whatever load suits your set.

Can I use a kettlebell instead of a dumbbell?

Yes. One dumbbell or one kettlebell both work, because the counter reads your knees and not the weight. Hold it against your chest and squat as usual.
